Hello all,
I am a guy in my mid 20’s and recently I have had a few strange dreams. In both the dreams I was crossdressing. In the first dream I was actually blowing a man which made me wake up and I couldn’t sleep again that night because I was stressed. Then I forgot about it for a months and now yesterday I again had a dream where I crossdressed. I have crossdressed only once in life that too because of a lost bet with a female friend of mine and ended up in a saree ( traditional Indian clothing) as a forfeit. But it was a closed door thing but in both the dreams I have seen I was in female clothes in public. I don’t understand why I saw these dreams but I was thinking if I should give it a try or should I just try to forget this thing. If so I don’t know what all I have to do to crossdress as I am guessing it isn’t easy. So some input would be helpful. Thanks |

Idk... there's no harm in trying it. I recommend starting with a piece of clothing, like a bra or piece of underwear. You could wear it under normal clothes and see how you feel. You could try on other womens clothes and see how you feel just wearing it in private.

I'm also not sure if this is the best place to post this kind of topic... maybe the mods should move to the sex and gender issues forum? Just saying.

Dreams can be really off the wall. I had a lesbian dream once but I’m not gay so I just let it go. If you feel like you might want to try cross dressing ...well why not?

If you are drawn to crossdressing, it may be for you.
If you are not drawn to this, then ignore the dreams. Carcrashonrepeat gave good insight into how to just try crossdressing. Interestingly enough, women can cross-dress in this society without ramifications. Men cannot as easily cross-dress in public. While this thread may get transferred to a different forum, you may or may not get as many responses as you have here. I sometimes see crossdressing topics under "sexual addictions" and have no idea why anyone places this topic there. It's not an "addiction," per se. I hope you will feel comfortable with whatever you decide. ![]() WC

I'm transgender and asexual and please keep in mind the lgbt community with your decision. Its hard to "cross dress" as a cisgender person, I see. It is also hard to be a transgender person.

Hey thank you for the advise. I will keep that in mind. Also I saw on your profile that you wish to be a medicinal analytical chemist and I personally am a medicinal analytical chemist and I am doing my PhD. I wish you the best of luck.

Hello Greatman: These appear to be your first posts here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral!
![]() ![]() From what you wrote, it doesn't sound as though you've had any crossdressing, gender identity or sexual orientation concerns in your life up to now. I wonder if, by some chance, you saw something... perhaps a movie or a TV show or something that planted these ideas in your head. I find myself that sometimes I'll have a dream & I don't recall seeing or hearing anything significant that would have caused the dream. But sometimes, if I really ponder it, I'll realize there was something I saw that hardly even registered in my consciousness... just a fleeting momentary thing. However it apparently registered non-consciously & resulted in me having the dream I had. I guess if you have a desire to try crossdressing it's fine to do so. But unless this is something you feel "a pull toward", so to speak, my recommendation is to stay away from it. In fact I might even go so far as to suggest, you consider delving into this with a skilled therapist. I'm an old man now. But I've struggled with gender identity issues my entire life. And I have to tell you it has been beyond confusing. So if these dreams really are just dreams & you have no idea where they came from as well as no genuine interest in pursing crossdressing or gender identity issues, then my advice is to simply leave this alone. On the other hand, if this feels like the emergence of some longstanding hidden desire to crossdress or some simmering gender identity issue, then perhaps go ahead & try it. But also delve into it with the help of a skilled mental health therapist.
