I'm 17 so I guess its not to weird tho?
I hear ppl of all ages masturbate tho....anyway...

I started taking abilify it gives me a really horrid amount of side effects including....diziness, sleepiness, blured vision, unable to focus...and from what I'm told...an increase in the ability to orgrasm FAST!!!!

This is soo annoying I orgasm with barely ANY work...I'm not sexually active so should I even care? I dont know but I do know this makes me not want to masturbate nor does it pleasure me...its more of an annoyance....any thoughts on how I can tell my pdoc I want off this med....I've been having other problems and she gets mad almost when I tell her......

I would just tell her it's messing with your sexuality and you're afraid it will mess you up because of your age and lack of experience.

depression and, in turn, anti-depressents can do a number on your sex drive. when i was on wellbutrin i felt like a zombie. didnt want anything at any time and it even made cigarettes taste nasty.

i would think that, since youre not in a sexual relationship, it shouldnt really bother you if youre a minute man (thats not an age thing, its just a guy thing lol) but the meds are helping elsewhere then i would continue. however, if youre afraid for longer the road then stop, of course.

a lot of things change when you reach your physical maturity. of course its all up to you what you do with your meds, but all of them have some kinda weird side effect. paxil made me sleep ALL DAY LONG! and i mean all day long. effexor actually made me have more panic attacks, not less. adivan made me and celexa made me a total zombie. celexa was the best by far but it still made me feel not normal.

so i think you need to decide for yourself which is more important to you. and try going to a regular family doctor, tell them what meds youre on and what youre worried about. theyll be able to tell you what exactly is normal and if it will change eventually. you might just need to give your body some time to get used to this medication.

never be embarassed Masturbation no longer pleasurable..because of med side effects.... thats what were here for. weve all been 17 before lol and im sure a lot of us have had the same problems.

Your doc shouldn't be getting upset with you; she should be there to work with you. If that's not happening can you switch docs?

moonkin,

Psych drugs can cause all kinds of side effects and the SSRI's are famous for causing inability to orgasm. Believe me, you psychiatrist knows these side effects and deals with people who have them everyday. It can be difficult to talk about sexual side effects, but it can be done without going into explicit detail. One could say the medication is causing increased libido or decreased libido and that it is a problem for you. That is all you have to say. If your doctor gets mad at you for telling them your symptoms and is not sensitive and help to your situation, you need to find another psychiatrist.

good luck

tell her as best you can.

let her get mad. if she does, that's about her not about you. maybe she isn't mad but frustrated because she wants very much to be helpful. that includes taking care of all the details, like this one.

it's important to you and that's ALL that matters, Moonkin, because you matter and your needs matter.

I can guess why p-doc gets mad. All the other stuff she proscribes
have side effects that are probably WORSE than Abilify. I have experience
with Abilify. It was the best they had to offer and it totally messed me up.
Everything else was worse except for one and that only lasted 6 months
because it was such a strong sedative. I've tried all the
antidepressants and most of the antipsychs. If they "work"
at all on your main complaint it will come at a huge price.

Think of being a p-doc where all you do is proscribe powerful
drugs in varying dosages and, for the most part, they all
affect peoples sex life. Maybe a dozen times a day she
hears the same complaints over and over. When they
hear about sexual dysfunction in men from an antidepressant
they just wipe out the pad for some Viagra. One brings
you down the other brings you up what could be wrong
with that? Everything because it's never that simple.
