I recently had someone tell me they have herpes. He said he hasn’t had anyl outbreaks in a few years and he is on suppression therapy.

We are not in a sexual relationship, but I thought it might be getting closer. Now I’m struggling with any physical contact.

Advice?

You must always use protection and I am not even sure if that prevents it completely. My daughter has it and she did not use protection and now she deals with monthly breakouts.

I think it is very mature, respectful and wonderful that he was open and honest with you. Tough situation, your at high risk of contracting. Do you see long term with this person? Someone you would consider marrying even? Imho, think of the long terms Repercussions , if contracted, you would be dealing with outbreaks for the rest of your life and infecting others. Everyone shows symptoms differently.

Safe sex has a good chance of protecting you until you know if you would go long term with him. If everything else matches up, I wouldn’t pass up a man who is this honest.
