Hello peemybed: I see this is your first post here on MSF. Welcome to the forums.

You asked if you should seek help for your diaper obsession and incontinence desire. This is, to my mind, actually a more complicated question than it might at first appear to be.

The first thing I might mention is that most people in the ABDL (Adult Baby / Diaper Lover) community consider diapers to be simply another variety of underwear. Some people consider diaper wearing (when one is not physiologically incontinent) to be a fetish. Some do not. Each individual has their own perspective regarding why they wear diapers and what doing so does for them. But, either way, being a diaper lover does not seem to be something that benefits from therapy. (At least that's my impression.)

On the other hand, if having a diaper obsession, & wanting incontinence, is something that is distressing for you, if it causes you to feel guilt and shame, then some time spent with a mental health therapist might be beneficial for that. But I think you'd want to be sure the therapist you saw was one who had had some experience working with people from the ABDL community or was at least open to the idea. (Therapists can have their own prejudices just like anyone else.)

I don't know, of course, if you're active on (or have lurked on) any ABDL forum websites. Personally I always feel that when a person is struggling with something that is "outside of the mainstream", so to speak, it's important to be in touch with others who have similar concerns even if it's just on-line. So, just in case you're not familiar with it, here's a link to one ABDL forum website. Assuming you're not already a member, you wouldn't have to join if you didn't want to. Simply reading through various posts in the forums over a period of time might help you to gain additional perspective regarding your concerns:

ADISC.org - The AB/DL/IC Support Community

Anyway... these are my thoughts with regard to your post. I hope you find being here on the forums to be of benefit.

I am not new to these types of thing. In fact it’s been driving me a bit crazy for the past few days. I can only wear at night because I have family so during the day I can get very frustrated. Luckily I just found out the sink in the bathroom is at waist level and works great when I’m frustrated.

My therapist is the only one who knows and she’s been very accepting and has said as long as it isn’t hurting anyone and isn’t dangerous then it’s fine to use whatever coping skills I find helpful. Sneaking boxes in is not a big deal either. I told my mom they were personal things and I’d like her to respect my privacy and not ask questions and she was fine.

Mine seems to be more related to my autism then anything else. It’s a sensory thing mostly. I do not consider myself a AB

i agree with the wise and wonderful Skeezyks and Mountaindewed. If this is something that is bothering you definitely seek some help and try to contact a therapist who has at least some experience with these situations or seems to know how to handle it appropriately. Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @peemybed, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I think everyone (or at least almost everyone) who has this obsession starts out feeling guilty. But, over time, people come to terms with it and even find they can take pleasure in it. Yes it is something that is outside of the mainstream, so to speak. And it is an obsession perhaps that most people who have it prefer to keep to themselves. But there's nothing wrong with it. It's not hurting anyone (except perhaps you because you feel guilt about it.)

No one knows why some people acquire this obsession (or any other obsession really.) But there are more people who have it than I, at least, would have ever imagined. That is, I think, where forums such as Adisc can be really helpful. One comes to realize that one is far from alone in one's desire for incontinence and love of diapers. And, at least to my mind, knowing one is not alone is an important early step toward acceptance... perhaps along with some mental health therapy if that is something that is of interest.

So, if you find yourself doing so, please try not to beat yourself up over your obsession with incontinence and diapers. Actually, I suspect, feeling guilty and beating yourself up over your obsession may itself make the obsession stronger. Finding acceptance will make having the obsession easier to live with. Plus it may gradually lessen the obsession's power. I obviously don't know anything about your living situation, or what (if anything) you're doing to assuage your incontinence obsession. But one thing I have found, in general with these sorts of things, is that the thoughts that arise around the obsession often have much more power than whatever it is one does to indulge it. Sometimes if one can find ways to indulge an obsession (safely & discreetly of course) it has a way of deflating the whole thing.
