Hi, everyone! I'm looking for ideas to remove libido with minimal disruptions to life and health. It seems like a useless and painful thing, just like me.

Some people advised me to take large doses of SSRIs, which doesn't seem like a good idea. I once had no libido while taking meds but the dosage was so high, I was barely functioning. I'd look into castration but that doesn't seem to be a legal option where I live.

Could you, please, give me some advise?

Hi @Rincewind I am sorry you are feeling your life is disrupted and have considered extreme steps to alter your body. Many people who are young experience increasing energy. It is part of life.

I think libido is also the energy of life. The older this body gets the less energy it has. Finding appropriate ways to channel energy is challenging. These are some things that help me.

Avoid watching movies and TV as there are many suggestions on there.
Eat less meat because that seems to increase libido
Eat lots of vegetables
Avoid a high carb diet and eliminate sugar
Avoid coffee and other stimulating drinks
Avoid intoxicants
Exercise and practice yoga
Do exercises that ground the energy like 5 minute Tai Chi on youtube.

What works for me as an older person may not work for you. Have you considered talking to medical doctors or pharmacist to see if they have any suggestions.

Hope you find the support you are looking for.

Rincewind, that sounds very distressing. I too am sorry you feel the need for potentially extreme measures.

I like CANDC's advice. It is very good.

I'm assuming you're male, given you referenced castration, so here's an idea that you can research if you'd like, to see if it might be appropriate for you. Availability may also depend on where (what country) you live, but here's the info on the offchance it may help:

It's an herb called vitex.

It's generally used by women who are trying to get pregnant but have unbalanced hormones, or those experiencing hormone issues during menopause. It seems to be very safe stuff, I've taken it for a few years to balance out the misery of mid life female hormone issues. It also seems to reduce anxiety symptoms for some people (myself included).

However, in men, it tends to reduce libido, and if I recall some history correctly, monks would drink vitex tea to reduce their libido. It's available in pill and tea form, you might even be able to find the tea at your local grocery store, depending on where you are.

Do your own research though. Make sure it seems right and appropriate for you.

Anyhow, I wish you much luck.

Have you ever considered why you are thinking this way?

Who prescribed those meds, where was it, and for what condition?
