Down lower on this page is a discussion on circumcision, and I see the last post says it is closed.

I would like to make a strong point against infant circumcision because no one has the right to decide to amputate part of anyone else's sexual parts. If the baby grows up and decides, then fine; but it's not the parents' place to decide, just because they're 'in charge.'
God or Nature created the foreskin for a purpose! It's not just an extra piece of skin. It protects the glans, and it has a role in intercourse. Imagine how sensitive your hands would be if you wore gloves everyday of your life from birth to adulthood. Guys who have had their foreskins removed have dry glans that have little sensitivity compared to what they could have had.

Cleanliness--give me a break. Little boys have trouble keeping their ears clean, so should we remove those at birth?
Looking like the dad--well, let's see, I wear glasses, so should I make my baby boy wear glasses so he looks like me? I'm bald, so should I keep his head shaved? What's so godamn important about matching penises?

No other civilized country in this world circumcises their infant boys, excepting Israel. If the US were removing the clitorises of infant girls, we'd be up in arms. Why aren't we all advocating for our little baby boys? If I'm a baby boy and I love my mother, how do I ever learn to trust her when she allows part of my penis to be cut off? Eightyfive percent of the world's men are natural, not cut. It's the US that is the exception to the rule. There is NO common sense evidence that proves that circumcision prevents STDs, AIDS, or cancer. Look at the AIDS crisis in AFrica--those men are not circumcised yet they have AIDS. There is NO legitimate MEDICAL reason to circumcise; even the American Medical Association does not recommend it anymore. It's a money making deal for doctors.

Look up the organization NOCIRC on the web. I was circumcised without my permission as a baby and I hate that I look so ugly down there, not natural. I hate that I can't enjoy sex the way God intended. I hate that such an important decision was made FOR me. I hate that I was a helpless little baby, depending on the care and support of adults, and they cut me, without anesthesia, and let me suffer like that when I was only a day old.

Check out the book, "The Joy of Uncircumcising" to get a well researched, scholarly look at this insane practice in the US.

im going to go out on a limb and say because it looks funny lol. seriously though, its a moral issue to be discussed by each individual family and if they don't want their child circumcized, its allowed. if they do want it, theyre allowed to. its not like were going to start a movement for something that happens when the child is a newborn and has no recollection of the event. if you want to start a movement, why don't you go fight for the girls in africa who have their clitoris removed in their teens. you want to be sickened over something? look at that. not a typical procedure that is painless and over in minutes.

This debate didn't go well the first time and, because of it, I don't think it a conversation that will go well publicly.

If anyone would like to PM this original poster to discuss this, please do, but I will be closing this thread as it's the continuation of a thread previously locked.

Thanks,

KD
