Barbra walters Special "Transgendered Families"

Anyone see the special on ABC on the transgendered man gave birth.

Also discussed was other transgendered families....Opinions anyone...?

No, I did not see the Barbra Walters special, but did see many photos of the pregnant man and was thinking 'that's a first' and dont really understand enough to have an opinion.

Does anyone have the link to the interview if it is allowed? It amazes me or my curiosity of the entire 'how?'

Yes, it was interesting. Traci became Thomas (taking testosterone & had breasts removed). Got married and they wanted children but wife had had a hysterectomy. They got donor sperm, inseminated Thomas (still has uterus) and he carrried and delivered.

Interestly, the wife began lactating and now breastfeeds the newborn! Lends credence to the stories I've heard about "wet nurses". Especially in the south when the African American mammies would nurse the master's child even when the mammy was way beyond child bearing years.

What amazis me is the fact that with no uterus and all the other partner begen to lactate. I wonder if she had to take special hormones for this or if it just 'happend' naturally? I know there is alot of controversy over it all, yet a human life the baby is and had no role in how he or she was born and now I feel for the baby and am glad that it can recieve breast milk. The conception is weird to me, yet the baby is a miracle.

Yes that lactating really amazed me also.....not to mention..."Barbra Walters" in the interviewed who was also amazed!!!!!

Who knows, that baby'll probably have a decent and more normal childhood then I ever had. Here's hoping people just stop with the death threats and ugly phone calls - that's really bad!

I'm glad they have the guts to air different things.
