I have always loved flying in my dreams which were always very pleasant. I used my skills to escape and sometimes just to show off. Lately tho I had a VERY disturbing dream where I was flying over an area of major war and catastrophic destruction. It was very graphic, people using the bones as weapons upon each other, miles and miles of burned out buildings, razor wire and traps and hellish
gangs with heads on spikes. It actually gets worse from here but I'll spare you further grisly details. I was finally able to wake up and of course was relieved but I can't get over seeing these things and experiencing that horrible part of humanity. Can you get PTSD from a dream? I can't seem to get over it and I wonder why I was forced to witness the atrocities that I saw? I am a very sensitive person and at the end of the dream I was just devastated. It was so real to me - I saw it! Remember the song "Doctor My Eyes"

Has anything changed in your life from the good flying dreams to the bad one? Changes in dream patterns usually have equivalent change in the dreamer's everyday reality. In this dream was it the flying that was unpleasant, or what you saw? The problems on the ground could be anything from the current economic situation to something in your personal life that you find disturbing from a distance. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what actually has meaning and what was just put in your dream to fill in blanks in the story.
