Over 10 years now i have had these dreams where im in different situations but i always get shot, They are so real that i feel like i can really describe what being shot feels like. I never die in any of them, but i have been shot with machine guns, hand guns shot guns. I will lay there and say to myself, just play dead and get up when they go. I don't know the meaning of these dreams or why i still have them.

Many years ago, I had a very vivid dream of holding my 5 year old son on my lap, inside a van, surrounded by these unfamiliar men.
The one man who was seated in the front passenger seat, turned to my son and self, facing us, raised a pistol and aimed at us.

I recall holding up my hand to block the aim of the gun pointed at my son. To no avail. The gun went off, and shot him directly in the forehead. My son slumped over in my arms.
He aimed the pistol at my head, again I held up hand to block. Again, to no avail. He shot me, also in the forehead. I slumped over onto my son, who was still wrapped in my arms.

I remember looking back down upon myself, and seeing this huge black hole in my forehead.
I began to weep uncontrollably not for myself, but for the loss of my son.
End of dream.

I woke, mourning the loss of my son. Lasting what seemed to be forever.

I have no idea what the dream meant, other than the only connection I could make to it was it occurred not long after I had allowed my ex full custody of son. Had to have been a connection there.

I CAN SO RELATE TO THE POSTS ABOUT BEING SHOT IN THEIR DREAMS,BUT MINE SEEM TO GO EVEN MORE IN DEPTH AS I CAN BE STABBED ALSO,IT CAN BE DURING A CONCENTRATION CAMP EXECUTION TYPE SHOOTING,GANG SHOOTING,RUNNING FOR MY LIFE STABBING,HENCE CRAWLING AWAY TO SAFETY AND BEING CAUGHT AGAIN,IT VARIES SO OFTEN AND THE DREAMS SEEM TO HAVE NO PATTERN OR MOVIE,MAGAZINE,BOOK TO PUT TO MIND AT TIME OF SLEEP,IT JUST HAPPENS.I SUSPECT THAT ALL THE MEDS I TAKE CONTRIBUTE TO THE HORROR SHOW AS I DREAM REGULARLY AND NIGHTLY AND MAYBE I COULD BECOME ANOTHER (STEPHEN KING)LOL!I JUST AM TIRED ALL THE TIME AND AFRAID THAT THE DREAMS ARE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE ADEQUATE REST MY BODY AND MIND NEEDS~~~~~I FEEL BADLY FOR YOU OTHERS AS WELL IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL WHAT YOUR MIND IS PERCEIVING!!((((((HUGS TO YOU)))))))

I have never really heard of anyone else having dreams like these...when I told others that I had dreams about being chased, shot, hunted down, even stabbed they got freaked out.
I have been having these types of dreams but only every few months for a few years...it's a little comforting to know that I'm not the only one.
Also, maddangell, I have a lot of Nazis-chasing, concentration camp-type dreams where I am being chased, hiding, trying to run but I can't move my legs...it always makes me feel horrible after I wake up.

I have dreams like that also. It was getting constant and I couldn't get any sleep . I read about lucid dreaming and thought I had nothing to lose. Now in my dreams, I am able to think "this is a dream" and I can turn and face down my attackers, attack back or even fly away. It doesn't always work but I'm getting more sleep than before.
As to what they could mean; being hunted down, chased, stalked by...what? Life? Circumstances? Work? Maybe all .

Goodness, I had a most horrible dream that my sweet neice got shot and then she fell down into a steep ditch, and then enormous black dogs with sharp white teeth started eating at her gunshot wounds. I studied Freud and Jung a bit over the years and in college, but reading about death and shooting in dreams is nothing compared to actualyl dreaming it! I took the dream to mean that I wasnt spending enough time with my neice, and that our dying relationship would push her further into the influence of people who have low or twisted morals. I feel that most dreams are the body's way of telling us to wake up and take action!
