I keep having dreams about the house i grew up in.

In the dream last night i woke up in my old bedroom and went downstairs expecting to find my mum and brother, but nobody is there. The doors are wide open, there are 2 cars in the driveway, post is sitting on the doormat, a newspaper is on the doorstep in the rain, lights and tv are on, there's food in the kitchen... It's like they've just vanished.

In other dreams i walk down the estate to the house and find the doors open etc, and nobody is home... So i take a shower and wait for them to come home. Sometimes other people turn up and chase me out of the house. Sometimes i just sit there alone, waiting....

Any ideas what this might mean?

I still have dreams about my room from when I was about 8 - 17 or so. I lived in that room except when forced from that space to go to school.I still dream about the sun setting over the railroad tracks as I played ThePolice greatest hits album. I get emotional just typing that out. I miss that place so much. My only comfort in the world at that time in my life. I honestly never leave the room during the dream and could care less if anyone ever came in or not, so I can't relate to the alone aspect of it though.

I think dreams about previous houses are supposed to be about unresolved issues we had when we lived there?

I saw my therapist for two long period of years separated by an equally long period of years and the second time I saw her I kept dreaming about the apartment I'd lived in during the first time I saw her :-)

Now that i've thought about it, i think it might be related to thoughts that my family aren't there for me when i need them. ...but this is hardly a new development.

I often have very similar dreams. Dreams that I am in my old house, or in the driveway of my old house. Dreams that my parents are still together and in the house. (They divorced when I was 17). The most recent dream, just a few days ago, I was in the driveway and a bunch of random people from middle and high school were there with a large truck. I've actually had several variations of this dream before. At least 3 times that I can remember.

Now that I think about it. I can't actually remember the last time I was IN the house in any dreams. Just in the driveway or in the street out front.

Definitely unresolved issues surrounding events or time spent while living there. But I'm not sure why I'd keep dreaming about being in the front yard?? Especially the dreams about being in the front yard surrounded by people, most of which I was never "friends" with, and for the most part felt like an out-cast around.

maybe that's the reason of your dream
not your parents divorce but the lake of friends in the time you need them.
someone to talk about the issues you are in.
maybe the lake of friends back then is your unresolved issue, not your parents divorce
