How often do you guys dream? I use to have many dreams, but not so much anymore. I would love to dream more, are there any stimulants such as sweets before bed?

Hi there,
I dream quite frequently, but the dreams are almost always forgotten about 5 minutes after waking up...they don't stick in my memory so well. :P When I was on seroquel, I'd have the most vivid dreams, and I would remember them for days afterward. I have no idea if taking a stimulant before bed would help, sorry! Thank you for posting this board though, as I have been wondering about this too. I'd like to be able to have more vivid dreams, and remember them afterwards. |

The only times I sleep and don't dream is if I've been drinking heavily. Even napping, I'm sure to trip out and have some sort of experience whether it be just a "day dream" or a full on dream. I can remember them too provided they were interesting enough to remember, but details are often fairly hazy.

I dream every night, every time I fall asleep, even if it's in class. I have very strange, vivid dreams that often determine what my mood will be for the rest of the day. I take seroquel (I was wondering if that's what was making me dream...) so I get knocked out pretty good. And sometimes my dreams make me treat people differently (if they were in my dream) because I often can't tell my dreams from reality...they're that vivid.
I found this on another website: "Certain vitamins and amino acids are beneficial for brain function and sleeping: B vitamins help a lot. Tryptophane (found in turkey and other foods naturally) is great for natural enhancement of sleepiness." There's more suggestions here if you want them: http://askville.amazon.com/dream/Ans...uestId=4133094

I kind of dream when I want to. Its kind of strange, I suppose. But Im a pretty good lucid dreamer. Its just kinda natural for me.
One way that I would trigger dreams back in the day was my putting my ipod on a timer and playing a genre of song that I liked. I found each different type would influence the environment. I often loved to fall asleep to techno music. Made everything bouncy and colourful. |

bballer - Medications are great for giving you dreams (night mares mostly)
Cheese is good for dreams/nightmares. Also red wine is good. Eat food that is highly flavoured - like pizza. Mind you no guarantee that you will get a dreams, nightmares or just weird dreams. Hormones will give you nightmares. Chances are you do dream but just don't remember them. If you really want to catch your dreams have a pen and paper beside the bed and write whatever you see asap - otherwise your subconscious will snatch it back. |

I'm totally going to sound pedantic, but everyone dreams (ok, I'm sure there's some extremely rare disorder where people don't dream, but for the purposes of this statement...) though some people rarely remember their dreams. I have very vivid dreams every night, often multiple dreams a night. And I'm like Atreyu and dream even if I fall asleep for 20 mins.
