Hi my dr. told me to take my 90 mg of cymbalta in the evening .. then my abilify in the morning.. I can not sleep at night. Up every hour. Does anyone else have this problem.. Do you think it matters if I take both in morning?

Hello Jan,

I was told to take it in the morning because it breaks down at a rate that helps you through the day. I do yawn at about lunch time and then 5pm but because I take another med at night time I have less insomnia.

Maybe telll the doctor and ask if the medication can be moved around a little? Exlain that it isn't working the way it is now.

Good Luck

I take 60 after dinner and it takes the edge. I haven't had any problems sleeping but I have a pretty heavy cocktail at bedtime.

Hi,
I'm not sure about the mix of taking the two meds at the same time would do anything. But I know when i was on cymbalta, they first tried me at night, and it kept me awake, it was like a energy pill or something to me. Then they moved me to around lunch time and i was able to sleep, except for i kept having tons of lucid dreams at the end of my sleeping cycle (like 3 or 4 hours of my sleep was just that) and I woke up unrested. So then they tried in the morning when i woke up, and all was good.
And before I was tapering off of it I was on 90 total, but took a 30mg capsule with every meal (my body gets to where I become immune to them after taking it for long periods of time).
But in all, if it keeps you awake, you might want to talk to your pdoc about this, and let him or her know. He would be the safest person to ask on if you could take it in the morning with your abilify or not.
You might even try asking if you could swap the time you take your cymbalta with the abilify. (personally, abilify made me sleepy so if it has the same effect on you, it may be benificial to ask about that with your pdoc). *throwing out suggestions*
