Last night I experienced four separate but vivid dreams. I seldom remember my dreams but these I can't get rid of. This is the sequence of the dreams (what a horrible night)!
First dream: My little Chihuahua, Amy was chased and eaten by a huge boa constrictor (let loose by my late father) who had nothing to do with my life. We used to own snakes but gave them to a sanctuary when they became too big for their enclosure. I can figure this dream to be my fear of losing my little Amy in any way and form. Second dream: I was in a truck with my Mom and a "boyfriend". When I mentioned that a window was broken in the truck, this "boyfriend" beat my Mom. I, in turn, tried to beat him with a chrome pipe but backed down because of fear. My Mom hasn't had a boyfriend in many years but we did experience a lot of abuse growing up. Why this has cropped up now I wouldn't know. Third (and most disturbing and triggering) dream. I was on sort of balcony in one of my Mom's lounge chairs. It was overlooking a road. A car (my husband's) drove past with my ex-husband staring straight at me and pointing a gun. He fired. I was shot in my left shoulder and immediately slumped and started bleeding profusely. I spit up bits of "insides". Two of my (current) husband's sporting friends, who I am not close to appeared to try and help. One of them stood me up but I collapsed. The dream ended there. I remember the pain of that gun shot very very clearly. I remember the murderous look in my ex-husband's eye's. Very clearly. It was a terribly disturbing dream. I have not seen my ex husband for 13 years though still fear that I will have to confront him. I did experience various levels of abuse when married to him. Fourth dream: My son said he was "divorcing" me and that he no longer me to be his mother. This distressed me greatly and I am struggling to remember this dream in it's entirety. I remember lots of words being passed between my son and myself and that I tried to trace his whereabouts when he didn't appear at school. These four distressing dreams accosted me in one single night. Needless to say, I felt as though I hadn't slept at all. Thank you for reading, I don't need advice, I don't think, but just wanted to know if anyone goes through the same thing.

No, Sabrina. While I occasionally have unpleasant dreams, they are rather run-of-the-mill. People chasing me; falling; danger stuff.
Sorry you had to endure this. |

I'm not much of a dream interpreter, but knowing some of what is going on for you certainly must play a role. Just guessing, but your husband may represent your protector who isn't available at the moment. I'm sure this is so anxiety ridden that you have much real fear. Your Mom is another protector and based on what you said, failed to protect you when younger. Your son has shown his "teenager" growing pains of late. His yearning for independence will probably play it's way out in many of your dreams for many years to come!! Just thoughts on my part. I'm sorry the dreams disturbed you so. ![]()

Another way to look at dreams is that when we are awake during the day there are lots of things we see and there are also things we run thru our mind and we question things, catch a TV show, and so on.
At night while we sleep, our brain stays awake and trys to process all the activity during the day. Especially when we are learning something or trying to problem solve during the day. So many times we can have dreams that seem to make no sense as the brain runs thru our day and trys to make sense of it example, save, delete. Much like a computer. When I came here and was learning how to chat for the first time. I was doing typing and talking and alot of new activity for my brain. All night long I would chat in my sleep. At first I thought, I must on that thing too much. But, what was really happening is that my brain was processing all the activity I was doing that night or day. My brain was making connections for me all night so that the next time I chatted it would be easier. Even if you are reading PM's or different things in the forums here, something may bring out a memory and it may be a new way of looking at that memory, maybe a possible solution to that memory. So, you can have dreams about that as well. The brain is always trying to learn, process and file and most of all find solutions. That is what it is meant to do. Open Eyes |
