I have this dream... i wake up (in the dream) or read a book... to realize world does not exist... that I made it up. It is not there. there is just darkness and nothingness. All the people i met and places I visited were just product of my imagination.

i always wake up with tears in my eyes from this dream. cannot explain it... besides overdosing on philosophy... but why does it occur now? I went through the "world does not exist" phase some 10 years ago and I moved on since. It was intruiging back than, but it scares me now...

because... what if... it is true after all?

Hi VenusHalley,

That sounds scary.
Sometimes I wake up startled, in a brief panic over the weight of "me-ness" - as if I don't know how to relate to myself and it scares me in that instance between wake and sleep, if that makes any sense.

Do you have a therapist you can talk it over with?

Elana

I can relate. I don't dream this, but I philsophize about the world not existing and stuff a lot, and that sometimes scares me. May I ask, have you had any med changes lately? Both a feeling of unreality and nightmares can be a side eeffect of some meds.
