Hi there,

Newbie here.
I've had this a few times and I just can't find anything online that explains it.
I was having sex with my boyfriend last night, I was really tired and on the verge of sleeping. We had sex, I can remember it and know I was conscious, but mid way I couldn't control this sort of dream state. I can't explain it, like every movement popped a new thought into my head. Like a weird hallucination. Weird colours and thoughts of completely random unrelated things.
I was fully aware I was doing this, and even tried to stop it as if to try and wake myself from it.
A few of the things that have popped up online are synesthesia and Hypnagogic Hallucinations?
I do suffer with intrusive/obsessive thoughts during the day but never anything as powerful as a hallucination?

Any help/ideas would be great, I'm a bit of a hypochondriac so when things like this happen I get a bit terrified and ridiculous!

Well a hallucination would imply you're actually seeing things as if they were in the room with you, not just imagining them in your head / with your eyes closed etc. Is that the case?

You also mentioned you were really tired and on the verge of sleeping... I know I went through a period where I was so sleep deprived that my body/brain would enter into a sleep state before I was unconscious. I would sometimes hallucinate sounds as though somebody was speaking to me in the room, but nobody was there. So, if you're really really tired, your brain might start dreaming before you lose consciousness, and this would come across as a hallucination.
