From what I can remember...

---

I was in a forest. I can't remember what kind of forest. It was a generic movie type forest I suppose. Spread out trees, brown dead leaves lining the flooring of the ground. Everywhere you looked, the view stretched out as far as the eye could see. My little brother then was suddenly with me for some reason. I don't remember why however.

He started to run up a slope that I apparently had not noticed before even though it clearly hadn't been there a second ago. The slope was ESPECIALLY steep and high but he made it up it. I followed him though I lagged behind quite a bit. For some reason at the top of the slope, there were train tracks. I didn't hear the train coming until it was too late. I watched my brother get suddenly hit by the train.

---

Then I suddenly woke up in a cold sweat.

Yeah......

It was a rather weird dream.

I read this like a "Pick Your Own Adventure" book...except all but one of the paths of adventure were torn out x_x

The forest seems to be basically a dilemma of life you see yourself in. You're lost in the dream, wandering the woods - so I would imagine this dilemma leaves you with no understanding of which way to go. You don't see any means to find your way out. Then your brother arrives. People in dreams are always also the dreamer - always (it's called projection, and it's basically the things we see in others that we relate to within ourselves). Your brother takes off up a - hey, how'd that hill get there!?! There seems to be a trait within your brother that you see that your subconscious feels would be helpful in finding your own way through the confusion. You are even able to follow him up the hill.

But there is something else going on here, and I think it might have something to do with what is keeping you from tapping into the same strength you see in your brother. He takes off running, and while you struggle to follow him, you get to the top in time to see your brother get hit by a train. Are your afraid that using this shared trait is going to lead you to the same sort of fate - a destruction of self? Are you afraid of getting too gung-ho when you find an opportunity to get out of this metaphorical forest?

My brother is indeed very headstrong. Hell, he's the most hardheaded person I know. If anything im the complete opposite of him. He does whatever he wants most of the time while I'm more of the overthinker type of person. I can definitely see myself following my brother mostly just to keep him company but I can also definitely see me being a little reluctant to go along with his whims. His whims usually do wind yo getting him in quite a lot of trouble so yeah...that totally makes sense as well.

The turmoil of the forest is probably me wondering whether to reenlist in the military.... Yeah. It all makes sense.
Thanks for this!
