I've had this reoccuring dream, actually started back when I was a kid and has come back off and on throughout the years, I'm 32 now. In the dream, I live out in the middle of the woods, in an old farmhouse. When I come home from school, I discover my family dead. I run out to the barn and there's a guy, a farmhand with a bloody axe who chases me into the woods. The next scene I remember is a scene of a funeral and I am looking down at the funeral and I see myself in the casket. As I'm looking around at the people around the casket, someone looks up to me and it is the killer guy with the axe. He looks up and smiles at me.

The dream never goes further than that, it's always the same. Any thoughts on what this dream may mean?

Do you remember when the dream started when you were a kid? Maybe you did something or something happened that set it off. I think, since it started back then, you'd have to think about what you felt about farms and the other images back then? I remember my first readers in school and the characters went to the farm and that influences my thinking about "farms" even today; or, if you saw any scary movies with ax murderers :-) etc. Maybe you heard the Lizzie Borden rhyme, for example and it went places in your imagination you weren't aware of. It does seem like a "basic" dream, maybe you were angry and wished your parents/siblings dead and/or it just became a habit that when you get angry, you have this dream instead of learning to deal with your emotions better?

Dreams are very important, recurring events can be a way for your subco9nscious to help you solve a problem that you are repressing, or possibly missing somehow, it could be so traumatic that you have involuntarily repressed it, from what you wrote it sounds quite violent, good luck figuring it out...only you know what it means.
