Does anyone else have a problem with sleep paralysis? I get it for hours at a time. I can't move my body at all, I feel pushed down to the bed, lots of times I see shadowy figures in cloaks and sometimes shadows of dogs or cats or people sitting on my chest. Lots of times I feel the sensation of being raped and I hear different voices laughing and saying things I don't feel like mentioning here. All the while I am completely powerless and try to move or scream and I can't. Then I'll be freed for a moment and I'm fully awake and able to move and I'll try to get up but then I'm forced right back into the paralysis. So I think I might be a bit narcoleptic as well. Anyone have similar problems? Any advice?

The paralysis effect may be triggering a PTSD attack. Typically, the paralysis includes feeling like something is on you or there with you, but once you get to the rape part you're either dreaming or hallucinating, which is where I'd guess the trigger starts back at. Then it simply becomes a cycle.

Okay so if I'm straight up hallucinating that would make sense. Just, nothing seems to help it. I feel like I'll have to deal with it the rest of my life. I'm just,, exhausted. I just want normal sleep for once in my life.

I was talking with my wife about this. You might also talk to your dr. about getting on a sleeping pill that will force you into deep sleep and limit the amount of REM you get. Doing so will limit the chances that you fall into the sleep paralysis cycle. If this is an option you choose to follow, avoid Ambien, as it can spike PTSD and any hallucinatory effects (the last time my wife took it she called me from the hospital she was at - -she was preggers and having braxton hicks - scared that she was "going to drown in chicken nuggets because there isn't enough dipping sauce to eat them all" :P )
