First of all I would like to clarify that i am not a religious person. Spiritual perhaps in that I believe there is a 'god' of sorts out there, but that god is not a conscious 'old man sitting on a cloud', and that spirituality can be reached from all religions, in a sense different roads leading to the same destination. But I have had this dream quite a lot and it really does frighten me. I dream that I am lying awake, and there is a man in the room, a man hidden in shadow with no features invisible due to a black cloak of shadow. The man however appears unclothed as you can see his silhouette. He doesn't do anything but stands over me, watching, and I can't move or scream of do anything, I just lie there. it is really scary and I feel completely helpless. As a young child I was abused, as you will know have you read any of my other posts. Is it possible that this is why I am having this dream recurrently? Or is this abnormal?

Actually, this sounds like typical sleep paralysis. Demons are usually more...interactive in dream imagery, and don't leave you pinned. That usually comes from your mind waking up but now your body, and the feeling of being stuck causes the dreaming part of you to fill in the blanks with any number of reasons why/what/who has you trapped.
