I take melatonin at night, just 1mg, and once I get over the panic and give in and sleep, it tends to go pretty well. I only woke up one night multiple times. But since I'm sleeping through the night now, I actually have been dreaming. But they aren't good dreams. They are extremely violent, and graphic...And totally random. I don't know how to explain why they happen. I guess that would be why I'm posting...Anyway, I just feel like I can't win. I waited until midnight tonight to take melatonin because I'm afraid of the initial effects where I can't think, and I don't want to have bad dreams...It's so frustrating. I feel like I will never sleep right. That I'll always have to deal with waking up a lot, or struggle to fall asleep, or have violent dreams the whole time...I'm 17 and I guess it'll be like this for the rest of my life...And I don't know how to set a sleeping schedule because I'm nervous to take the melatonin and that's the only thing that helps me get decent sleep...I guess I'll see how tonight goes...I have to be up in 6 hours or so anyways...

So much frustration...But goodnight, I guess.

If you have to be up in 6 hours, don't use extended release. It should still be safe to take your tonin. The dreams are a whole other matter where your subconscious is trying to work through some inner conflict. The panic attacks might also be leaving enough adrenaline to instigate that kind of dreaming. Give it time JDA. Eventually you'll get used to the feeling or it'll get less noticable...milder... and then you won't have such panic attacks.

In the mean time I'm sure we're all on the same page of welcoming your dreams to the forum for interpretation ^_^.

I wish I could remember the details of them, but I pretty much don't remember unless I literally just woke up...

Start journaling. After a while, you'll be able to remember more and more of the details. But to start, even just writing "I don't remember my dream" is enough to get the habit going.

Any details. You don't have to interpret them, just write what you remember happening in the dreams, or if nothing else say you don't remember the dream.
