Most of the time if i wake up in the middle of the night or even in the morning i am met with images on the walls or ceiling that scare me up out the bed....they dont hang out for long basically when i turn the light all the way on its gone. I cant even explain what they look like but its never appealing.

In the field of paranormal research, there is a mental effect called matrixing. This is when the mind finds patterns in the shadows/lighting and makes them into an image, even though the image isn't there. This experience you describe could be a lingering dream image...some fear, say, that's still got a hold on your subconscious...mixing with the matrixing of shadows on the wall you see as you wake up.

Some people have it more "naturally", some people get it more during stress, but most of us have at some point got stuck between sleep and being awake.

The two states will mix for a few seconds and sometimes longer, and sometimes it just feels longer because it is so unpleasant. Some classic things that can mix is that you feel as if you were awake, but the REM sleep paralysis is still there, so you feel awake but you cannot move yet. Because your body isn't fully done with sleeping. Other things that can happen is that you have an ongoing dream, and you wake up, but you don't fully wake up, the awareness of being awake is there, but the dream somehow continues for a little while. Often then if you can get your eyes open, you dream with the background of your real room. For some people since it feels real (that part of your brain is actually awake to tell you you are awake), this can be utterly frightening, some people learn that it actually IS a dream even if their minds tell them it is not.

Hope this helps a little.
Thanks for this!
