I have dreams about tornados. The first one I remember having was I was a school teacher in a one room school from like way back when. The school was all by itslef alone in a prarie with tall grass and along the right side there was a fence, the kind the military uses for creating a barrier. A small tornado came through and I remember running in the field with all the children. I had on the dress and bonnet, all the girls did and boys had on the usual farm clothes. I have had that same dream about 3 times now.

Last night, I had a dream a huge storm was brewing, the clouds were all colorful with pink and oranges, blue, purples, and greens. This dream was present day. A small tornado came through and didn't do much damage, when it was over, myself, my husband, and our friend went out to assess the damage and noticed it really didn't do anything, then out of no where a HUGE HUGE HUGE tornado dropped from the sky right on the house next to ours. I could see all the debris swirling, it was a massive black swirling cloud. I remember trying to run back to the kids in the basement and the next thing I remember in the dream is the whole area was destroyed. Flattened. It was a very real vivid dream.

Usually when I dream I know it's a dream somehow and I can talk to myself during them, not the case with this one.

Tornadoes and storms in dreams is a symbol for anticipation of catastrophe (this is emotionally related, or related to life in a general sense). The first dream holds a building (your body) standing alone on its own. The small tornado threatens the school(you) but doesn't really do anything. It seems you have a little bit of protection here, too (the fencing), though you're still out in the open(vulnerable). In the second dream sequence the same storm comes up, but now you have the change of perspective - attributes and responsibilities attributed to your loved ones. The second tornado greatly overpowers the first tornado, and does far more damage.

I see a theme here of looking back on simpler times (the "back in the day" one room schoolhouse, for instance). When things happened, not much damage was done. But now we have a much more complicated life. There's a husband and kids that count on you. And the storms are bigger, too. Things get wiped out. But in the end, I think is what's most important - You were still alive to see the flattened destruction after the storm passed.

That was amazing. I truly appreciate your insight. The theme of returning to simpler times is something I strive for. I'm at a loss for words. I have wondered why so many times I've dreamed about tornados, and everything you have said made sense. Thanks again!

Have 'em, love 'em. Adrenaline galore. Not had one in a while but then I don't dream much anymore about anything...too bad.

Hi, I've had a bunch of tornado-related dreams recently. Usually, they're in bunches (like 6-12 at a time), they're long and skinny and any time they're close and/or go over my body, it feels like I am being physically electrocuted...in my dream. Sometimes it hurts so bad, I wake right up...anyone have any idea what that could be about?
