I have a recurring dream that started between the ages of 6 and 8. Me and my closest sister are tied to a wall. My sister gets loose somehow and proceeds to untie me. We hear someone coming down the hallway as a long and wide shadow starts to glide across the hallway wall. We run towards the door and right at the door I fall. My sister stands at the other side of the door staring at me as I struggle to move, encouraging me to keep going "you're almost there!!! Come on!! He's coming!!! Hurry!!!". I'm too weak to move but I'm an inch away from escaping. I don't give up, I keep trying but it seems like I'll never escape. Suddenly, everything goes black and I wake up. What could this dream mean???

Well I've had a look into my dream book and I'm going to take a stab because I feel unqualified to answer, but also wouldn't want someone to leave a thread of mine they saw without replying!
So,
1. You're trying to escape.
2. Your sister's escaped.
3. The figure is intimidatingly big.
4. Your sister is encouraging you but not actively helping you.
5. You're struggling out but you don't feel like you're moving anywhere.

I would have said that you're in a state of mind where there is an anxiety being kept at bay that, although has not struck, is lingering in the back of your mind no matter how hard you try to suppress it. Your sister having got free and giving you encouragement is perhaps because you admire her for not having the anxiety you have - like a "nice" kind of jealousy or envy. I think the dream is looping because it has not been faced, or dealt with. I don't think the shadow is a person necessarily, but in general a bit weight on your shoulders.

Is there anything you've always struggled with, but shrugged off instead of overcoming it? Is there anything you specifically find inspirational or something to aspire to in your sister?
Thanks for this!

Not really. She's the only sister that I'm close to. The only one that actually treats me like I'm her sister instead of an untrustworthy, selfish, child. I have 5 sisters and two brothers but my little brother is my only full-blooded sibling. A sister and brother are from my dad's past marriage and 4 sisters (2 being twins) are from my mom's past marriage, and when my parents met each other, they had me and my little brother. Sabrina (one of the twins) was the only sister that treated me like..well..a sister, therefore she's the one I'm close to. She's the one I always talk to if I have a problem. Before my brother was born, my dad was never around so the twins had to watch me while our mom was at work. I was afraid of the dark when I was a kid and Sabrina always laid in bed with me until I fell asleep and when she moved out, she always let me stay with her when I wanted to visit. I think maybe I was just really close to her..I can't think of anything else that would cause that if that's what the dream is really about. I guess I just admire her for always being there for me.
