I dreamt my right eye was feeling weird. Like swollen and bulging. Not right. Before I knew it, my eyeball fell out. I panicked and the people around me grabbed it to pack it so it wouldn't deflate or "go bad". It was walking around crying and showing people my empty eye socket. I woke before this could be resolved so I don't know if I got my eye back or what. What the hell does this mean??

As used in this dream. the eye can represent the “I”, i.e. your sense of Self which comes from your ego structure. The eye also refers to what you can see, understand or believe. There may be a belief about the Self which seems right or correct. (dream is focused upon the right eye). You may be making too big an issue of a belief pertaining to your ego. (eye swollen and bulging) A problem with the eye can imply a self identity problem or a problem with your ego structure which is not giving you a sense of Self that is sound or healthy. The swollen, bulging eye could suggest the idea of having an inflated ego.
The eyeball falling out, would suggest that in your mind there is a failing in relation to the role your ego is playing. There is an aspect of yourself reflecting some good thinking (the people) that would have you “pack it in” – call it quits, be finished with the subject of the “I” or ego for the time being – least your ego become actually deflated or completely useless to you. (or “go bad”) You may be trying to progress (walking around) expressing sorrow about the state of your ego. (crying and showing people my empty eye socket) The empty eye socket would not seem to be an improvement. Being ego-less is not the answer. You have the right to the eye just as you do to have a healthy sense of Self. The dream does not show how the ego problem is resolved but I would assume that like most ailments - physical or emotional - time will solve the problem. Perhaps the first step is to cease imagining a failing in your sense of Self. |
