So I have dreams nearly every night, usually half are extremelly intense. I usually remember them and sometime can control them while I'm sleeping. I also have reoccurring dreams.

Lately, I've been dreaming about elevators. They are usually somewhat scary because they never work like I would expect. Sometimes they are extremely fast to the point that you are flying in the air, and then they stop, sometime they get stuck on wrong floors or lead to dead ends. Sometimes they sway and I am terrified they are going to fall. Often times it is a full dream of me riding the elevator up and down for whatever reason and it doing scary things or taking me to unforeseen places. Sometimes it is stairs too. The stairs end, or lead to different places than expected.

***I am wondering what you all think of this dream I had last night. It was my first dream with elevators, stairs, and escalators.

I was living at a university, all in one building like a Vegas Hotel. I would take the elevator with other people and it would get stuck, go super fast, fall several floors and stop, but nearly all my classes were on different floors so I had to use it.

One of the rides, we were stuck and it was swaying. A woman in the elevator told me that there were 5 people in that elevator last month that they were never found. So they decided to use the manual escape elevator. This was another elevator you crawl up into that had a manual pulley system. It was only made with cloth lines though so I was terrified it was going to break. But I didn't want to be alone in the other elevator thinking that it was going to fall.

So we used this other elevator which had an every floor safety latch, we had to let go of the line and let it drop hoping it would catch the latch. We fell about three floors and I grabbed the line and slowly brought it to the latch. Once I learned about this elevator, I started using it to get to my classes. There was a security guard that kept chasing me out, so I would go in and out of that and the regular elevator.

I tried using the escalator which most everyone used because they were afraid of the elevators, but they were extremely overcrowded and it would make me late to my classes. I would get impatient and find the manual elevators.

There was a side story for awhile about some old high school classmates of mine and then there was this competition/game. The game was to get to the top floor get the item up there and get back first. If the other team tags you you have to go back to the first floor and start again. It was very intense, because I was running up stairs and then going into the manual elevators, and jumping back unto the escalators. I would exert all this energy and then get tagged and have to go all the way back to the beginning.

If I had to take a wild guess, I would say the manual elevator is me taking control and doing it myself. The regular elevator was never working as expected and scares me to death, so I would rather take more risk (with the cloth line) and do it myself. It seemed to work in my dream, but authority figures did not like that I was using this system. They wanted me to do it their way, so I would have to hide and use both my way and their way to get to where I wanted to go.

Then there was the escalator which was what people too scared to ride the elevators would use, I tried it and hated it because it was too slow and couldn't get me where I wanted to fast enough. The game maybe representing the game of life, you try and try and try and get knocked back down, always hoping to win. So, I would have to come up with different strategies and ways to try and win. In my dream, no one won. We just kept doing the same things and tagging each other out.

Why would I dream this?

You done a good interpretation of your own dream. You are Feeling not quite in control of things, and prehaps you are taking risks in real life. New adventures mean new risks, it all is one and the same.

In some ways you are feeling stuck in a rut and cant get out. You are repeating the same things over and over. Breaking free of set life patterns mean going to new unseen places in life, and all the uncertain out comes that go with it.
