I usually don't look for deeper meaning of dreams but am wondering about this one. It went like this and its my brother who ended his life 5 yrs ago. He was just as he was before he passed and in my dream I didn't consciously know he was gone. I felt he knew about my current life problem and he was saying goodbye - we hugged and it felt so real. I woke feeling comforted by this since I never got to say goodbye IRL. I told my husband and he said this usually means its a warning of the dreamer getting sick, if they touch a person who's dead.

One interpretation would be to look at the dream as speaking of the present moment and the dynamics in your unconscious. There may be something going on inside you, in which your brother symbolizes a part of you that may be changing in some way. Perhaps you no longer rely on this part of yourself, so you are saying "goodbye" to this part. Yet you have experienced closeness and love with this part of yourself.

In this way, your unconscious took the situation with your brother as being a good symbol for something going on right now.

Another interpretation would be that you are working through grief about your brother's death. Are you aware of having thoughts or feelings about this recently?

Well my dad's been gone for over 20 years I think, and I dream about him quite a bit, always as if he were still alive, like he had just been gone somewhere but he's really been alive all this time. Anyway I don't think I get sick every time I dream about him. We probably do touch in the dreams.

Lynn, I believe the best person to interpret a dream is the dreamer. What do you think the dream means?

Gotta say that I have dreams about dead family members fairly frequently. Hasn't had any correspondence with me getting sick.

Dreams are all about feelings. You feel now that you got a closer around your brothers death. It is a good dream. No worry about a chiidii (ghost) here in this dream.

Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread. I felt comforted by the dream so I'm not going to worry about any negative meaning (what my husband said). I struggled with his sudden death and wished he knew what main problem I have in life. Seeing him and feeling such a real hug/closeness made me feel comforted. I felt he knew and I felt like I was saying goodbye....kind of a closure.
