I have a lot of, I suppose, less than stellar dreams. I just thought I might share and see what someone else has to think on it .

I was walking down a long hallway of a house. The walls to either side were white and the floor below was some kind of wooden planks. I kind of remember noticing all the shadows at the end of the hallway, it was dark and there were no windows. So I began to wonder down the hallway and I just knew that I was looking for something, maybe someone. I had this constant image of a dead girl within my mind of the dream.

The next thing I know I was in the room at the end of the hallway, like before I was surrounded by four white walls and was above the wooden planks of a square room. It was still dark and when I looked up I saw an attic door, one of the ones you pull down and the stairs unfold. Suddenly I had, what I can only describe, as a flashback within in the dream. In this flashback I was lying on my back and this man was standing over me, he was quite muscled with tanned skin and short, cropped hair.

When I came back from the flashback I had realised the man was my father although he looked nothing like him, no one ever does. I had also realised that he was the thing I was looking for. So when came back to the present moment of the dream, I had that the attic stairs were pulled down and I turned to see my father at the end of the dark hallway, he was holding some kind of axe and he was wearing half of someone's face that was stitched onto his.

That's when I awoke.

So yeah, that's the dream and I just figured that I would share. If anyone has any thoughts about it, I'd like to hear them . Thanks in advance.

Very interesting dream, thank you for sharing.

One thing you can do is list your associations to each part of the dream. If you do so, I'll use them to get a better feel of what the dream is saying as a whole.

So for example, does being in a white hallway call anything to mind? Does the color white itself call anything to mind? It can be literally anything you associate with these dream images.

Does a floor with wooden planks make you think of anything?

Does this entrance to the attic make you think anything? Is it something you've seen before?

What do you associate with this man standing over you? Remind you of anyone you've seen? If you were to think of personality traits he might have, just use your intuition to see what clicks. Don't worry about being confident or right, just give it a try.

What do associate with holding an axe?

With half a face stitched on him?

One comment I will make now is that part of the dream seems to be exploring your father's identity, your sense of who he is. First, he appears in the guise of an unfamiliar person. Then he appears with two different halves of a face, as if he is possibly two different people (i.e., in real life he has different sides to his personality).

I also might ask what your relationship with your father in real life is like.

Mike
Thanks for this!

Glad to share . And I'll see if I can associate.

The white walls are something that I find kind of bland, they just make everything appear empty. So does the lack of windows and doors, pictures and everything. Just white walls.
The attic is a little familiar, though the only attic I've ever seen was in a house I lived in when I was younger. It was, coincidentally, located in a hallway...
The man doesn't remind me of anyone I've seen, different parts of him stand out as familiar but the image as a whole does not.
The towering over me thing I just recall finding uncomfortable and unnerving.
The axe was just a weapon, I'd associate that with killing and maiming.
As for the stitching of the face, it really leaves me with a blank...

My relationship with my father, I don't think about it much and I guess that sums it up. We don't talk a lot and are pretty distant from each other, though he was ill tempered when I was younger.

Hmm, kind of makes you think. Thanks very much for offering up assistance .

Even though you don't relate much to your father, you still have a "father within," a part of you that represents internalized aspects of your father's personality. It could be that this internal father complex is playing a greater role in your life now. I don't have a lot of specific associations other than that the dream is exploring the identity and role of your father and your father within. You are searching for him. He appears in the guise of an unfamiliar person, then later with two different halves of a face. He appears in the unnerving position of towering over you, suggesting a possible relationship to you of dominating, and later appears with an axe, suggesting a destructive role.
