For the past couple of months I have had these dreams with the same reoccurring theme. I either kill myself in the dream, or I am killed by someone else. Does this mean that I am destined to die? Has anyone ever had dreams with a reoccurring theme?

We are all destined to die sooner or later. In dreams death can mean transformation. This may mean you are changing and about to be reborn.

I never thought of it that way. In that case that is a good thing. I don't want to die by my own hand. I want to heal, and share a good life with loved ones. I don't know why I have these thoughts and feelings, but I hope they go away someday.

For over 20 years I kept a dream journal and found that at different times in my life certain themes occurred. I can’t say that I know what those themes meant when I was awake but my general feeling about them felt more objective about the content and they didn't seem threatening by reviewing them over some time. Many were not threatening but one set in particular were. At one point I asked myself (several times before I went to sleep – kind of talking to my subconscious) to create some kind of undefined solution to this one set of dreams (kind of visualizing the dreams) and after a while my dreams instead of stopping at the worst point came up with an answer to the threat, even though it didn't seem in waking to make sense, and I woke up feeling relieved and as if the problem was solved. So it means to me that the subconscious sends us messages, probably in many forms and dreams are one form, and I think there is some value in trying to connect with it and work with it and maybe it's not really literal, maybe some part of you is changing and you have to leave some part behind and that represents a kind of death. Hope this helps.
