I tend to have dreams at times where I will be with a group of people or even in a populated area and I will quickly leave for a moment to do something like use the restroom or get something and when I return, everyone disappeared. Just gone, and sometimes it is even very dark and I have extreme fear and sometimes even loneliness. Don't know why. Other times in a similar way, I will be in a populated area and the lights will go out and I have to run out of the building I'm in. For some reason, when the lights go out in a dream, it tends to mean something bad is about to happen. For example, one dream I had was I was walking around the indoor track in the gym at my college when all the sudden the lights went out. The only light we had left was from the sunlight coming through the front entrance and a few windows. Otherwise it was completely dark. Students hanging out on the benches and chairs made a dash for the exits, some leaving their belongings behind. Students playing a game of basketball on the gym floor below the track dropped everything and bolted for the lower exits. So I started running myself, naturally I was the furthest away from any exit but made it out in time, which is rare since that is usually not the case. Once outside, I realized I forgot my belongings so I went back to retrieve them which was very risky. When I returned, there were only three students left standing at the entrance who happened to be working there, telling me to hurry up, while one of the students ran through the building one last time to make sure everyone was out. I got my stuff on the track and we all dashed out the building. That is also very rare since usually if I do walk back into a dark place, there is no one else there. Normally those kinds of dreams end badly, but this one did not since I made it outside where it was sunny and walked to another building that was populated. Although it was still disturbing to see all the lights go out and see everyone make a dash for it they way they did. Don't know why I had that dream but it was really weird. In these kinds of dreams I also tend to have a feeling of fear and loneliness especially if I wind up all by myself in the darkness. Not sure what this kind of a dream means but I have similar ones from time to time.

Hi, BPHS! Do you have a history of people abandoning you? That seems like a theme here. How are relationships with you now?

It definitely seems that you are concerned about being lonely and left "in the dark," away from others.

Yeah, makes sense. I don't really have any close friends and people do tend to just leave me like I am nothing to them so maybe that's what the dreams symbolizes.
