Going on 4am and 3 over the counter sleep aides later and Im still wide awake. My insomnia has def taken a toll on body this past 2years. I look aged and my weight has increased 40 lbs due to binge eating at night when I can't sleep. I know my past addiction problems have much to do with my insomnia. (And my new addiction is food which I'm having a hard time controlling) The no sleeping worse and worse I feel. I just want "normal sleep" not a drug induced one. I will be dead tired and as soon as I hit my pillow I'm wide awake. I feel as if I'm going to go insane.

Your body has developed an immunity to the over the counter sleep aides. See a doctor about your sleep problems. A Therapist can help as well.

Hi, I have had insomnia in the past due to stress. Even prescription Ambien or Lunesta did nothing at all. Seroquel knocked me out but in a very bad tranquilizer a rhino way.

Try getting in as much hard physical exercise as you can, and see if you can push yourself to become physically exhausted. Physical exhaustion for me trumps the emotional stuff, and no matter what, I can fall asleep at least a few hours.
Thanks for this!
