So I have had a reoccurring dream, I believe 3 times in the last two weeks... The dream is basically the same very small changes in each one... So in my dream, I wake up and feel scared. I go into my fathers room and tell him I'm scared. I go out into our main room with my dad to check to make sure the door is locked. (I've always been somewhat scared of someone breaking in). When my dad and I enter our main room, someone pounds and bangs on our front or back door. The thing or whatever it is yells and screams but it's a very low tone, almost sounds like a demon from one of those movies... The weird thing is, is that I only have this dream when I'm up at college. I haven't had the dream while being at home even though the dream is always in my home. Just want to know what this means... I'm scared of being in my own house because of the fear of someone breaking in.

hi
i know that houses in dreams usually represent the self so i am trying to figure out how that would work here. only having it at college, i would think there is fear of others getting to know you, invading your space so to speak. so you see dad as a protecting force and bring him in for help. i dont know if that makes any sense. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

The dream may involve feelings of being out on your own while at college. The demon may your fear of being alone away from home. The demon may be your independant self.

I am wondering if being away from your usual surroundings is causing this dream. ??
