Got a referral for a sleep study. Got in for my initial assessment, and the doctor decided that I should have a sleep study done. They had an opening the next day () so I took it.

I've got to wonder though... how does anyone actually sleep well, or at all comparably to sleeping at home? I've slept in hospital beds before. I've slept with IVs in my arm. I've slept with machines beeping and weird noises and medical personnel coming in and checking up on me at random (and waking me up!).

But all of the above, plus being kicked out before 7am, PLUS the silly tubes in my nose and my mouth... it's a wonder I slept at all.

I'm really hoping the sleep study does find something though. I'm sick of being perpetually exhausted. If they find nothing though... I wonder what I'll do with myself. Now I wait... a month. Until I get my results (yikes).

This is interesting. I sleep allot. But I never feel rested. I've thought about looking into something like this. But, it seems as though all that is ever recommended is one of the CPAP (I think that's how it's referred to) machines. Good luck with this!
Thanks for this!

I have had 2 sleep studies, the first one resulted in a bi-pap machine, which I love. The second one 6 years later resulted in a diagnosis of REM (sleep behavior disorder). I was given klonopin which works like a charm. All in all I have been on a bi-pap machine and klonopin for a total of 10 years and it has meant the world to my sleep. I awake rested and I no longer beat up my husband or jump out of bed into the dresser.

That being said, I still have sleep related problems due to my depression. For that I take lunesta, seroquel and the klonopin.

Good luck!
Thanks for this!

Got the results today. I've got sleep apnea. This depresses me a lot more than it probably should.

I'm trying out CPAP machines as of next week. We'll see how that goes.

I've been on a CPAP since February. It has made a world of difference. I don't wake my wife or myself up with my snoring any more, and I can definitely tell a difference on the occasional night that I do sleep without it.
