I had a dream that a murderer was after me and my sister. I was utterly terrified. We knew he was coming and hid in the bedroom. I hid beside the bed away side from the door. My sister got in bed. The murderer got into bed with my sister and I wanted to fight him but knew it was impossible to live any more with him in the room.

I interpreted this dream as the murderer was death or the grim reaper. My sister is older than me and I felt it meant that she would die before me. I knew my time would come too and there was nothing I could do about it. I am in my late 50s and my sister is in her mid 60s. I think about dying sometimes but feel this dream is a real indicator of my fear of death.

It's possible the murderer represents a part of yourself who feels threatening. It may also be that you fear death -- dreams are good at finding images that have multiple meanings. Although it seems scary to contemplate that your psyche has a "murderer" in it, it's actually a common thing that a lot of people have... it can develop as a defense mechanism against feelings that are threatening.

Whatever this murderer symbolizes, your dream self is showing it to you because it feels you are ready to see this image. Take courage.

Thanks, well I've heard we all have a death instinct and a life instinct too. Jungian theory says parts of the dream are parts of ourself.
