I find it hard to sleep if there are other people awake within earshot.. which sucks when you live with people who like to stay noisy until 2-4am every night, and you take around 30mins-2 hours to fall asleep, and you need to wake up consistently around 8am... anyone else get that or similar?

I feel ya. My upstairs neighbors really love to party and they do it almost every other night, in between 6pm all the way to 8am sometimes. It's pretty ridiculous.

I always have trouble sleeping if someone else is making a lot or even a little noise around me. I need either complete silence, or natural noises like the wind or even a bit of rain or something like that.

I used to need complete darkness. My wife can't sleep without a tv on or she has horrible nightmares. Not the same as sound, but definitely close

I need darkness too, i used to need pitch black, however the last 2 years my accommodation has had fire alarms which have bright green lights on them, which dont go out and are too high to cover.. so i have been forced to get over it.. still bothers me sometimes though
