Before I would sleep until 9, 10 am now I cannot. The only change that has happen with my routine is that I am now on anti-psychotics and that is it.
It's very bad since once I stood up till 2 am and I woke up at 6 again with very little sleep. I once woke up at 6:00 and then fell asleep, but woke up in 6:58. It's like my body would not let me sleep past 6. I cannot take a nap. I just can't sleep. I am getting worried to what this is. |

Lack of sleep is not a good thing when it comes to mental health issues. If staying asleep (as opposed to getting to sleep) is a problem, time-release melatonin can help as well as the standard sleep hygiene items like sleep mask, curtains, earplugs and so on. Hopefully your doctor is knowledgeable at helping with sleep issues, especially if they are being caused by your medications.

Public Service Announcement! Melatonin causes erectile dysfunction in men. Valerian root is a good alternative if you want to stick with all-natural, but you may want to check if it has any interactions with your medication.
I have heard a lot of hearsay that anti-psychotics can cause sleep disturbances. Is this a new medication for you? It may just take you some time to adjust to the medication, but you should bring this to the attention of your prescribing physician, you never know what those symptoms can be indicative of. Good luck! |
