I had a disturbing dream that i was at a dinner table with my now deceased relatives. We were eating lobster, except it was not lobster. They were tearing our dogs tounges out and dipping them in butter. The dogs would go off in the corner and die. I am horrified at this. My parents loved their dogs and would never hurt an animal.

Well, just generally because I don't know which parts of the dream connect in your mind, sitting at a table eating with your parents, you are still doing input and output with the patterns of behavior you learned from your parents. So there's a large part of you behaving or expecting things in the way you learned when you were little. It was not lobster goes again to show you that you are not being true or genuine to yourself. You are still entrenched in those behaviors of your parents.

Tearing your dogs tongues out is an image of the baseline/base of your communication there, that the primitive impulses that are within all of us, which are true instinctive knowledge, being communicated at the table, is unacceptable. The base truth of your relationship to your parents is something they could not accept. Maybe decisions you made, which were more true and genuine to yourself, they did not approve of.

It's a very interesting dream.

ETA so in short, it's a dream about trying to be your own person with your own thoughts, ideas, loves, hates, etc versus what your parents wanted or expected of you. You are having this inner conflict about your beliefs and behaviors being unwanted, and not accepted, by your parents.
