This severe lack of sleep is killing me. I'm so tired. If it's not my anxiety/PTSD keeping me awake or waking me up, it's just my insomnia in general. If it's not either of those, it's something I have to take care of. I have a constant dull headache above my left eye, at this point. My neck hurts, my body hurts and I feel like my eyes are plastered open.

At a certain point, I'm just gonna fall over.

I'm so sorry. Lack of proper sleep is sheer hell. Have you spoken with your doctor? Any help there?
Thanks for this!

Anyone I've ever brought it up to has just offered the same things: Melatonin, Trazedone, Remeron, a few weird antidepressants, Vistiral and a lot of natural remedies and habits.

None have really worked. Adderall can sort of help but that just stops my anxiety, not the insomnia. Weed can, but hasn't worked over the past week. I've gotten pretty beaten down from it. I'm so tired.

I'll wake up in an hour and then be like this again. Haha, I'm a train wreck at this point.

True!

My depression probably first presented as sleep problems. After the depression diagnosis one sleep study done at a local "sleep center" found certain mild irregularities in my "sleep architecture."

"Sleep hygiene" has become an essential tool in my antidepression arsenal. It has not solved the problem, but without it everything gets bad quickly.

You might be deficient in magnesium as meds of every sort [according to Dr. Carolyn Dean MD, ND in her book The Magnesium Miracle] not only block the body's ability to utilize magnesium, but deplete it as the liver detoxes the meds. Insomnia is a symptoms of low magnesium so you might try taking a highly absorbable form such as magnesium chloride, citate, malate or other chelated forms. DON'T take magnesium oxide as it's so poorly absorbed that all it does it give you raging diarrhea. You need to take calcium and vitamins D3 and K with the magnesium as the 4 nutrients work together.

Meds destroyed my ability to sleep, and the two things that have restored it are the cortisol lowering supplement Seriphos and high doses of magnesium. Without those, I don't sleep a wink.

I go through long periods of insomnia as well. You are not alone! I hope it resolves itself soon.
Thanks for this!

I have found light therapy to work. It helps too with my depression and anxiety. 10-15 minutes each morning which is needed here on account it is dark until 8am and dark again before 5pm. Anyway, my sleep pattern became more regular.
Thanks for this!

i have had severe insomnia problems since a baby because of my autism,id go days without sleep-i was a living zombie.
doctors had always refused to help until i met a sympathetic GP who said he would prescribe me a month of circadin [AKA melatonin] and my then pyschiatrist made it a permenent script, it was a godsend but i got took off it when i got sectioned in a hospital and was put on the sedative zopiclone instead which sucks,i got took off it before leaving the hospital so i was once again left incredibly insomniaced.
when i asked to be put back on it,they told me the licence of the drug had been changed to only be for under 18s.

the only other thing besides alcohol that has helped me sleep is my anti pyschotic medication, haloperidol as it takes away my anxieties.

you could try yoga, mindfullness, deep breathing exercises, and sleep hygeine, these are all said to help for sleep issues but not for everyone, they dont for me.

Had three restless hours. Now my fiance went to work and I won't be sleeping until he gets home at 7am.
Thanks for the tips guys, sorry to say I've tried many of them.

There is a newer drug called belsomra. Haven't tried it myself. Do you take anything for anxiety or depression ? When my anxiety isn't controlled I don't sleep. I take lexapro and it does help. The best I ever slept was on paxil but it kills sex drive.
Thanks for this!

I don't take any psychiatric medication anymore. Haven't had very good past experiences with them.
