I had never had a good experience sleeping until this past 6 months or so. I started following a simple sleep therapy (not sure what it's called) and I've been falling asleep and waking up much easier than I ever have in my whole life. I still depend on some meds and relaxation techniques like soothing music. I still feel like I beat it a bit.
Now summer's starting and I know my sleep habits are going to shift at least a little. Not teaching at 8 am is already a drastic difference to my body clock which was set to firmly waking up at 7:30 am naturally. It's slowly slipping back to 9 am-ish. I'm going to bed later so it's not like I'm sleeping more, just a bit delayed. Is this natural or a bad sign? This timing isn't terrible for my schedule right now but I am hoping to stay on a schedule that can at least re-adapt easily during the school year. The biggest worry I have is my returning nightmares. At one point I had nightmare disorder and was terrified to sleep. Every time I have a nightmare I get a little more worried. Lately, I have been having them more and more until this past week it's been every night. So far I don't remember them (which is good; when I remember I can't shake it off). Still, I'm scared and that isn't going to help. Not sure if this is asking for advice so much as sharing my fears... |

The bed time shift is quite normal. Anxiety can cause nightmares.

Surprisingly I'm not very anxious in my life right now although I actually tend to get nightmares more when things slow down...
Last night I had another nightmare and I remember more of it which is troubling. |

Thank you! Mostly it's been very fragmented although each night I remember a little more for a little longer. I may be getting myself worked up over nothing too terrible although last night I only slept 6.5 hours which hasn't happened to me in months. Again, it could just be the energy shift.
