It is very rare for me but every so often I will have sleep paralysis. Sometimes I try to snap out of it and other times I just wait it out. Usually if I do try to snap out if it, it wears me out to the point where I fall back to sleep. Very rarely do I actually snap out of it unless I am borderline awake and can move just a bit. How do you deal with sleep paralysis? Do you have a certain trick to snap out of it or just wait it out? Just curious.

I haven't had an episode of sleep paralysis in quite a few years now... thankfully! But I had them for many years. And for most of them I didn't know what was going on. I just knew they terrified me! Over time, I learned to simply focus my attention on one finger & try to move that finger. Once I could move that one finger, the sleep paralysis disappeared altogether.
Thanks for this!

Same, it is super rare for me. I used to think it was a severe problem but turns out it isn't. Happens to a lot of people, and most may not even notice or remember. Yeah concentrating on one thing at a time if you can definitely helps.

When I 'snap out of it' it tends to turn into a false awakening. I just made another thread that goes into more detail, but I'll talk a little about it here.

I can't find something to defeat it, however, I have found a few grounding techniques. Having the tv on at a low volume and playing something that's easy going and calm me (usually an ocean documentary). I keep a lamp on in my room throughout the night. I have a calming sleep playlist that I'll use sometimes. I also read something easy going before bed.

These things have helped some, but recently my sleep paralyses has gotten worse and more powerful.
