I am sleeping too much by taking naps and am not sure why. It doesn't seem to be meds because my meds have changed. I also have sleep paralysis a lot and it is kind of freaky. I have to get a sleep study in a month. Does anyone have tips for reducing need to nap?

What are you getting the sleep study for? Do they think it's the sleep paralysis, or something else?
I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. That causes a lot of naps and exhaustion. But it could also be a deficiency related to vitamins/minerals you're taking in. Could also be mental health related. No way to know for sure except to see a doctor. As for tips for reducing naps... caffeine? Getting at least 6-8 hours of sleep a night? Good sleep hygiene (no technology at least an hour before bed etc)...

I am getting a polysomnograph and mslt. They think the sleep paralysis is part of something else. My sleep at night is broken, it is annoying

As it turns out, the first one (polysomnograph) is what they generally use to test for sleep apnea, which is what I have. So you could have sleep apnea, which would explain the tiredness. As for the MSLT, that sounds unpleasant. Being woken up several times? Argh. ![]() I hope the tests give you answers.

The only way I have found to reduce napping is to do too much and have only time for 20 minute naps. It's not healthy though.
Something you can try, that I've noticed weirdly works is drinking a ton of water. Not sure why it works for me, but also as a human, my educated guess is that when my bladder is full, it's harder to peacefully fall asleep.
