I used to take melatonin, sometimes 10 milligrams, with no problem.
This week and especially last night I’ve had some kind of reaction to the 5 milligram pills. Last night I took one around 12. I had really bad sleep paralysis. My mind was totally there. It was terrifying. I was trying to scream. I was telling myself to just go back to sleep, and that I wasn’t in any danger. I also was having vivid dreams and I was hallucinating people in my room. I think I was sleep walking too. Because when I got up to use the bathroom (I was still really out of it) the bathroom door was shut. Since I was so out of it I was worried someone was in there. Like an intruder. When I got to my room I was so freaked out and I was freaking out that I wasn’t really awake. I couldn’t tell if I was awake or asleep. I don’t know why the melatonin has all of a sudden been causing these symptoms. But I guess I should not take anymore. Or else not 5 milligrams. Does anyone know anything about this? I doubt it was an allergic reaction. But it was really scary. |

That sounds horrible...
Ive read from reputable sources that the correct dosage is closer to 2 mgs. |

I wouldn't necessarily attribute this to the melatonin per se, after all our bodies produce it naturally anyway to trigger sleep. May be more bound up with something in your day or at the back of your mind that opened up when relaxed.
