This is a big problem for me, although I use melatonin most nights to help me sleep it doesn't usually keep me asleep all night (even slow release). Promethazine (Phenergan) does but I'm reluctant to take it on weekdays as it makes me drowsy the morning after and I also know that long term use of this and similar anti histamines (like benadryl which is almost impossible to get in the UK already) can be bad for you so I use it as an emergency and weekend only addon when I really struggle to sleep, need to catch up on my sleep, or also have an allergic reaction so need anti histamines as I'm itchy otherwise. I buy a pack from Boots every few months (they come in packs of 56 so it does last a long time) but today got told they don't stock it anymore and now it's prescription only. Is this true or are they just being idiots?
Would be very annoying if so as I am nearly out, it was hard enough to persuade my Psychiatrist or GP to prescribe me melatonin, which is also not easily available in the UK. I don't trust online pharmacists, you don't know what you're getting. |

Not sure they have ever sold that OTC in the US. It's definitely script only here. Has some nasty s/e.
