Sunday night I dreamed that I was in a strange house with my cousin who died in 2003. We were chatting, and I was filing my nails. They were really long and I was trying to shorten them by filing them. Then I realized I was filing my cousin’s nails. I suddenly realized she shouldn’t be there because she’s dead. I told her we should cut the nails and then file them. I leaned down to get nail clippers and woke up.

The strange house indicates using a mental attitude or way of thinking with which you are not perfectly comfortable, one that involves a feeling you have which is a relative one. (the cousin) Here this would mean a feeling that might be applicable in certain situations but not in others. {like an umbrella is}

The fingernails relate to scratching and clawing and thus refer to aggressive behaviour. As your nails were really long it implies that an aggressive way of functioning is a long standing way of functioning for you.{as in the claws have come out} Filingthe nails to shorten them would suggest a gradual cutting back on the length or degree to which aggressiveness is carried.

In this scene the True Self can see you attempting to curtail your degree of aggressiveness but only on an emotional (inner) level - but not physically. (filing the cousin's nails) While there may be something to be said for a feeling pertaining to the nails as being "relative",(chatting with cousin) you do realize that this feeling will be of no use to you in your physical world (cousin is dead) and is thus not applicable in your situation. The True Self suggests you should cut the nails, that is, curtail their length to a considerable degree - which would symbolize the idea of cutting out the length to which aggressiveness has been allowed to go, but then file them (as when shaping them nicely).

However when you have the inclination to cut (using nail clippers) this inclination puts you in a losing position. (leaned down to get them) At this point you need to wake up, that is, come to a greater state of awareness. [The message here is two-fold. One - that the nails should not be allowed to grow too long - because they symbolize wanting to have and use a lot of aggressiveness in life which the Lord does not favour. The 2nd issue is that while shortening them is advised, you would be better off doing it with a file rather than scissors or nail clippers. The reason is that filing also implies sharpening the nails {as cats do} because this act would symbolize your readiness to be aggressive if a situation calls for it but without letting the aggressiveness go to the length or degree the long nails now symbolize.
