Everyday I always dream and most of it are nightmares. How do I know that is normal thing or that is a disorder one? Sometimes the dream is very beautiful and makes me happy and the other day it is very frightening. How do I overcome this because I really miss to have a sound sleep without any nightmare.

I'm sorry you're having so many nightmares.
![]() You asked how you could know if what you are experiencing is a normal thing or nightmare disorder. I don't think this is something you can determine yourself. Making the determination as to whether or not what you are experiencing constitutes nightmare disorder is something that would have to be done by a mental health professional. One other tidbit of information here... I was recently prescribed a blood pressure medication called: "Terazosin". The physician who prescribed it mentioned that it also helps to alleviate nightmares. I don't know if that's really true. I presume she knows what she's talking about. So perhaps, if your nightmares are something that is of real concern to you, you might talk with your doctor about the possibility of being able to take a medication that would help... either the one I just mentioned or perhaps something else. (I actually don't need this medication either for my blood pressure or for nightmares. It was prescribed for me for yet another problem entirely.) Anyway this is just one other thought for your consideration. Here are links to 5 articles from PsychCentral's archives. The first defines nightmare disorder & how it is diagnosed. The remaining 4 talk about analyzing your dreams (including nightmares) as well as how to have sweet dreams: Nightmare Disorder Symptoms The meaning of your nightmares | Unleash Your Creativity How to Analyze Your Dreams (And Why It's Important) 9 Common Questions About Dreams Answered How to Have Sweet Dreams | Reaching Life Goals Good luck! ![]() ![]() Last edited by Skeezyks; Sep 15, 2018 at 02:46 PM. |
