While asleep last night, I drank all my filtered water and the single beer I had in the fridge. I also ate some precooked bacon and a granola bar. I remember none of this, because I was asleep, but the evidence was all there, the wrapper, empty bottle and the filter pitcher was left out. I live alone so nobody played a prank or did this. I slept very little last night too, about three hours. I have done strange things before during sleep, even cooked food. Usually, this is a sign of severe mental stress, but I think I'm actually coming out of a phase of that. Advice? Comments?

Definitely take this info to a sleep doctor. Could be sleep walking due to stress but none of us here are sleep doctors. Sorry to hear you are experiencing severe mental stress.

I used to sleep walk and sleep cook and sleep email people on Ambien all the time. Are you taking a sleep med by chance?

Could your sleep-walking activities or parasomnia be tied to your SSRI medications (past and present)? Parasomnias and Antidepressant Therapy: A Review of the Literature
Sleepwalking May Be More Common Than You Think I know that when was put on Benzos for anxiety, I never reached Stage 4 Deep Sleep or Stage 5 Rem Sleep. Then, my body boomeranged for a year after I stopped the Benzos and I had terrible side effects and parasomnia for 12 months. When I took an SSRI for sleep (Seroquel), it made me hallucinate during the day, and kept me awake all night. So, I stopped that. Then I tried another SSRI and that made me sleep-walk, sleep-talk, sleep-drive, sleep-cook, sleep-clean and I had to get off of that. So, I realize that maybe you need an SSRI and can't just go off of it. Maybe you could try to switch to another one that your body responds better to, and doesn't have any side effects that mess with your sleep. Sorry you are going through this. Sleep is so important. |
