Hello,

My friend has depression and problems with sleeping.

She either gets 4-5 hours of sleep or no sleep at all sometimes.

She tried to do physical activity like biking for almost half a day, fully exhausting herself but still her sleep is bad.

This has been going since July 2019 and because of lack of sleep she is constantly tired and in a bad mental condition.

Anyone here has similar issues?

These are the medications that she takes:

- Zopiclone
- Seroquel (Quetiapine) 500mg
- Oxazepam

What if one of medications affects her sleep negatively?

I was thinking that supplements like these could help her but what if they will conflict with her medications?

- 5-HTP (5 Hydroxy-Tryptophan)
- L-Lysine
- L-Theanine

I would have her ask her doctor before trying any supplements just to make sure they won't interact.

Seroquel is supposed to make you really sleepy, so I'm surprised she still can't sleep.

5 HTP can act as a stimulant in some, so I would personally stay away from that one. No idea about the others.

Is there any remote chance she could have undiagnosed bipolar disorder? Sleep issues with us are rampant.

If not, she should see a sleep doc. What about sleep apnea? What is the shape of her jawline as seen from the side or profile view? Is her chin prominent? Small and not prominent?

What has she done about basic sleep hygiene? Room quiet? Dark? Good temp? Is she physically safe where she is? Noone stalking her, no dangerous exes or relatives? Does she have a trauma history? An anxiety disorder perhaps?

I cannot exercise within several hours of any sleep attemptt. I end up all amped up for awhile.

What is her caffeine intake like? Any Yerba Mate going on? Other stimulants?
