I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and started using a cpap in October of 2018. It didn't solve the problem - so I was upgraded to a bipap machine something like a year ago. Long story short- as of 2 weeks ago- I still wasn't getting the un-interrupted sleep I needed. My AHI numbers were all over the place. This is after 2 lab sleep studies and 2 take home sleep studies (I wore a machine that monitored my blood-ox level and breathing.

Sometime during the last year they apologized for not being able to control my sleep apnea- and mentioned that my numbers were worse when I was on my back. I mentioned that I knew there were t-shirts with pockets for tennis balls that one could wear at night, but they suggested they didn't think we had come to that yet. They suggested we could try a second sleep study if I thought it might help.

After my second sleep test about a month ago, during my follow up appointment- they told me they didn't think they could do anything else for me- as my numbers were still very high- even after adjusting the pressure levels based on the new sleep study. But they mentioned again that I did poorly when sleeping on my back. I immediately ordered one of the t - shirt with the pockets for tennis balls- and since then my numbers have been under 4 AHI - every night for the last 10 days!

So- finally, after 2 years, it looks like we finally have this sleep apnea under contol!

Here's what a chart of my last 90 days looks like.

My numbers are still very good. My AHI has only been over 5 on a few occasions since October 2nd- and it's never been over 6.

Since I started getting treatment for sleep apnea about two years ago, my blood pressure has been much lower.
