I’m sorry to hear that. Lauren Fenton has great meditation for sleep as well as other different meditation.

I urge everyone here to consider a sleep study. If nothing else to rule some things out. The usual sleep meds thrown at us generically dx'd "insomniacs" arent the only ones out there. Im learning all about a new receptor that is targeted by a newish sleep med for me. I can share a link but only if you all want me to.

I still have trouble sleeping. I think I have circadian rhythm disorder, but that requires a few days of sleep study, not just the overnight sleep study that the VA gave me before they diagnosed me with sleep apnea. I also have been diagnosed with insomnia, but I think it's more than the issue with having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I have trouble finding a routine sleep pattern.

I also have nightmares and occasional night terrors.

Lunesta never worked for me, and ambien mixed with ativan sometimes worked and sometimes made me feel more dissociative. I stopped those meds years ago! I now only do the holistic thing through chamomile tea on occasion, melatonin on occasion, chamomile and melatonin together, Tylenol PM (but only when I'm NOT using melatonin, as I don't want a reaction) on occasion, or something nothing at all - esp. if I'm naturally tired.

I still wake up anywhere between 2 hours and 6 hours after finally falling asleep. It takes me anywhere between 2 hours to 3 hours to fall asleep. Essentially, my sleep routine would have to be for about 10 hours, due to the length it takes me for me to fall asleep, my dealing with interrupted sleep and then having to try to fall asleep again, etc. It's not fun.

And I'm almost never refreshed, due to my chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME). I deal with post-exertion malaise (PEM), so any exertion hours or a day before will cause me to have more unrefreshed sleep and sleep problems.

I was prescribed trazodone for sleep when I was 14 and for most of my life I couldn't sleep without it. Luckily, I didn't have to keep increasing the dose though. I'm still on the minimum dose, 50 mg, and I sleep well with it. Without it, I'm usually up all night.

I did do a sleep study. I didn't think I had apnea, but was wondering about restless leg. The results were normal though. There are sleep clinics in my area, but most of them only deal with apnea, not other sleep issues.

That’s a bummer because the logic is if your study is more than 5 years old you should have it redone. I’m a miracle worker finding resources so if you want you can pm me your state and I’ll look around

I took the study a little over a year ago, so I don't think I need another one at this point. I am obese, which I know can cause apnea, but I'm a pear, so the fat is in my lower body, not around the chest and neck area where it can obstruct breathing.

I live in Texas.

I used to be on trazodone, but it didn't work. At the time, I had a really adverse reaction to my psychotropic meds, which made me more suicidal. I overdosed on trazodone. I cannot use that drug at all!

But I hear it works for other people.

Thanks Buffy for your response. Holding your breath and counting in a comfortable way works, and its natural.

My mom drinks a little wine before going to sleep for the night and she snores and snores. NyQuil helps me sleep and so does getting regular exercise and going to bed around the same time every night.

I almost had one but I had to cancel the appointment. I wonder if I have sleep apnea or something else.

I have heard of alcohol helping with sleep.

I use B-Complex, Magnesium, Tylenol. Helps to take the edge off & coax you to sleep "naturally".

*** I take really small amounts of each by chipping the tablets. Dunno why they put 2000-3000 times the RDA dose in B-Complex supplements.
