A little background: each dream is different rather than strictly recurring, but the thing that links all of them is my last ex boyfriend. I left him nearly 5 years ago, after a very short relationship, realising I didn’t love him, never would’ve and the issues that plagued my relationships (that I didn’t understand) hadn’t gone away - this time they were much worse than ever, mostly because my ex was a lot more “present” than my other boyfriends had been (long distance/arm’s length r.ships).
Until recently, each dream featuring my ex had me looking for him, feeling sad that he didn’t want to be found by me. They have now transitioned to us being back together, or at least he’s happy to be around me, and it always feels nice.

I wouldn’t take him back if I ever had the chance (too many red flags) and I’m pretty sure the dreams changed before I started counselling. Any thoughts?

The dreams may mean you are more accepting of yourself now.
