I've averaged about 3 hours a night for 3 months now. I don't know how I'm making life work. It is starting to greatly impact me and my functioning.
But that's not why I'm writing. If I'm not going to sleep I can at least message with others, maybe we can keep a log together of what's keeping us up. So I'm going to try and keep a log here, see if I can figure out any patterns. Tonight is a little weird for the reason I can't sleep. I began having migraine symptoms this afternoon, and I took one dose of Excedrin, then a few hours later when the pain had subsided but I felt still sort of light headed and feverish I took an NSAID. I took another dose now because, while it seems better, it's still not gone. My throat, while not feeling scratchy, feels like it's narrowing or closing up a bit. I decided to take an allergy pill as well because we had an abnormally warm day and I wondered if maybe it sparked up some allergies. I don't get them often but a change like that will spark it for a day or two. So my head feeling weird, a combination of headache and warm is keeping me up. I think it must be allergy or migraine related because whenever I get any other illness, a cold or the flu, it's always a sore throat or cough first.

I fell asleep for a little bit and the migraine feelings seem to have dissipated. That makes me feel better as I get highly concerned with any suggestion of illness these days.
Of course I'm awake again now bc lately if I wake up getting back to sleep is now the same process. It used to be that I had no trouble falling asleep, prior to the last 3 months, I just often had poor sleep due to nightmares.

Are you drinking enough water and salt? That can cause me inability to sleep and migraines.
I am having less sleep. I think it is coming because of the lack of working. I have been trying to get up earlier so I will be more tired at night. Also eating closer to bedtime helps. |

The migraine finally did dissipate mostly and I fell asleep. 3 months ago my head hit the pillow and I fell asleep. Now? Nope. And I get plenty of exercise plus I work a long day. In fact I try to tire myself out in the hopes I will sleep. Going to change tactics I think. I generally try not to workout before bed because adrenalin wakes me up. I'm going to try 30 minutes of yoga and then a shower and see if that somehow turns everything off. I'll let you know tonight.

Hi seesaw, do you ever try melatonin or an otc, like ZzzQuil? Maybe for a week, just to (hopefully) break the insomnia cycle?

I hope the appointment bears fruit. Functioning on little sleep is just not a way to live life.

Well, my insomnia has resolved on its own before I had to go to a doctor. One interesting thing is that my fitbit tracker was damaged and recording data incorrectly. So seeing that data telling me I wasn't sleeping (even though I have bad sleep it wasn't that bad) was a real mind **** that made me feel like I hadn't been sleeping. I realized my tracker was broken when it went kaput completely. I got a new one and my sleep very quickly started returning to more normal (for me) ranges. I also got my eating back to a healthy diet after all the stress of deadlines was forcing me to resort to ordering delivery every night bc I was too tired to cook.

I have had several really bad nights of sleep. We are in the midst of a heat wave here (it's summer) and even with two air coolers and opening up the bedroom before bed to cool it down, it is still hot. That's the big problem. It's supposed to continue this hot for the next 3-4 days.

The plan is to buy a second portable AC for downstairs, but the sales last year started in February, so we have to wait a bit longer. Prices are still really high. We moved the other one upstairs because the afternoon sun in my office is brutal. It's improved somewhat since we installed blinds, at least.

I don’t tend to have insomnia but I’ve been dealing with it intermittently since November when my husband was hospitalized with COVID. He’s home and better thankfully and my insomnia resolved for awhile. Then my boss fired the other physician assistant in the practice and in a month I received over 50 new patients ... needless to say I’m so stressed I’m really not sleeping well again . All the more frustrating because I’ve been very good about keeping a regular, healthy sleep schedule because it’s been critical to my health.
It’s been a hard year |

I should be asleep but I'm having some bad stomach cramps, and I really don't know why. I would speculate it was something I ate but I didn't really eat anything that would do this.

I'm still having issues with falling asleep early in the evening then waking up around 1am. Tonight I tried a new tactic. Took a sleep aid not long ago and put on an aquarium video on my TV to help me relax and get back to sleep.

I'm hoping that taking the sleep aid at bedtime and then having the aquarium video will help me fall asleep and stay asleep tonight. Fingers crossed!

Im so tired I just want to sleep but my mind wont stop racing, I had a good day , long hard work hours today, I think I peppped myself up. I work as a caregiver and a breakfast hotess at a majoy hotel chain. I have to give one of my jobs up. I love caregiving but it does take a toll on the soul. I care too much if too much is too much. I know I need to let it go but I worry about the people I take care of and how they are doing when I m not with them. I know I will find out next week and i need to go to sleep and rest and be able to help them but especially I need to take care of me, me , me or I wont be good to anyone. I have to take care of my hubby he is so good to me. I love hime so much. he is a kind soul. Our little doggie and kitty need lots of love too. My choclate lab died about 2 weeks ago. I had him for 12 years, he was about 5 when I got him. H e died of old age. I miss him so much. He was a big baby such a sweet, gentel, loving dog. I visit his grave everyday. I loved my baby doggie. then On top of all , we had a flood a pipe burst when we were out of town and it flooded our living rm and kitchen now everything is ripped out. No stove, no counter, no dishwasher, no washing machine it sucks big time. reallly sucks. I hate it. I had to go to ER for chest pain. too much stress. they gave me morphine I felt a world of better. I wish I had more of it. Im okay managhing. I m in a manic epsoide but finally I feel I m coming down from high. Praise Jesus, thank you lord. Now I need to sleep and pray sleep will come soon. send all your well wishes my way cuz lord wholly I need them. Thanks in advance.

I'm awake, though it is only a little after 10. I'm usually asleep by now, but I expect to not get much sleep tonight or for the next week or two. I'm trying to dial down the sleep meds and try to get back to natural sleep. I took melatonin only, which I don't think is going to cut it, but we'll see.
